Cancer Research UK’s annual Relay for Life took place earlier this month in Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds. Cross Country Carriers not only spectated the 24-hour relay, but was one of the sponsors to raise awareness of the event.

The relay saw participants walk in two-hour intervals before switching with another team members over a 24-hour period. Not only this, but attendees were also treated to variety of live acts on stage and in the centre of the track. The acts varied from choirs, bands, Majorettes and more. With periodic themed laps to keep the energy up, the event was met with appreciation.

Cancer Research UK not only celebrated the fight against the disease, but remembered lost loved ones during the day. The event which is set to raise more than over £22,000 is a success with several businesses already asking to take part in 2023’s event.

Ben Smith, General Manager at Cross Country Carriers said:

“We were thrilled to sponser this year’s Relay for Life. The fundraiser means so much to so many people and we wanted to help the cause. Cross Country Carriers wanted to support the community, which supports us. The day was filled with such energy and a brilliant response, and we can’t wait to be a part of next year’s event.”

David Cianciola, Co-event chair, added:

“The event was met with a great response, and we want to thank Cross Country Carriers for their generous sponsorship. The event has so far raised nearly £22,000, a goal we are tremendously proud of and will help in the fight against cancer. Due to the success of this year’s event, we will be hosting it again next year and hope to build on this year’s accomplishment.”

All the funds raised in Relay for Life will go towards Cancer Research UK.
